Located in southwest Dane County, Mt. Horeb is a growing community with a population of over 6000. It is called the "Troll Capitol of the World," for the mythical wooden Trolls that can been seen along its Main Street "Trollway" that are carved by artist Michael J. Feeney. It has a lovely and historic downtown with turn of the century buildings and is known for its antique malls and specialty gift shops. Mt. Horeb is a full service community, with excellent schools, a large public library, and its own recreation department that offers classes, local parks, and a modern aquatic center. The area's Norwegian Heritage can be seen in the downtown decorations and in the seasonal festivals and events sponsored annually, including the July Arts Fair, Summer Frolic, Brew Fest, and Fall Heritage Festival. Stewart Park is adjacent to the Village, and offers fishing and hiking trails. Located 20 miles southwest of Madison, along HWY 18-151, Mt. Horeb is an easy commute for those who work in Madison and a welcome place to come home to.

Horeb Mail and the Town and Country Shopper, the source for local news and real estate and rental ads. Also publishes several other local area papers.

Mt. Horeb Mustard Museum
Mt. Horeb Mustard Museum- America's Favorite Condiment Museum. Visit for the humor (take home a Poupon U toilet seat cover) and be sure to do some taste testing (every mustard is available to try before you decide what to take home). Mt. Horeb Area Historical Society & Museum- Promoting local history. The site includes articles about the history of some of the area's townships and smaller villages, such as Mt. Vernon and Riley, plus information on the current exhibits at the museum, which is located in downtown Mt. Horeb. Little Norway- Just west of Mt. Horeb, this outdoor museum is also known as The Valley of the Elves. The enchanted setting includes several buildings of Norse architecture and more carved trolls to delight the child in everyone. Cave of the Mounds- Also just west of Mt. Horeb, this cave was accidentally discovered in 1939 and is now the most significant cave in the upper Midwest. It is designated a National Natural Landmark. It is open to visitors year round, because the below ground cave temperature remains a steady 55 degrees. Tyrol Basin Ski & Snowboard Area- Skiing, snowboarding, lessons, private banquet & wedding facilities. Military Ridge Bike Trail- Part of the Nation's Rails to Trails program that transforms unused railroads into biking, walking, and recreational trails. The Military Ridge Trail begins in Madison and travels throughout southwest Dane County, going through Mt. Horeb, where there is a Norwegian inspired rest area with a bike riding Troll. The Grumpy Troll- Local brew pub and restaurant just off Main St. Serving hand crafted beers, homemade "Grump Chips," and other delectables. Artists Networking Together Sustainably (ANTS)- a local, grass-roots group of artists living and creating in the Mt. Horeb area. Karakahl Inn - "Karakahl" means "leave your cares." Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and built in 1964, it has 76 rooms. Village Inn- Family owned and operated for over 55 years, this "little bedder" has 14 rooms. Arbor Rose B&B- A B&B located near downtown Mt. Horeb in an inviting Victorian mansion, with four rooms to pamper you with garden and rose themes. Bohn Creek B&B- a cozy farmhouse B&B on 10 acres in Vermont Township, across from the Tyrol Basin ski area. Trout fishing is available in the summer. Othala Valley- Rent a cabin for a peaceful retreat, in a magical wooded hideaway a mile outside of Mt. Horeb. Clarence Gonstead Guest Cottage- Frank Lloyd Wright inspired design in a unique guest cottage built in 1952.
